Newcomer Price hits game-winner for Eagles

(Continued)

BEEKMANTOWN —

“Our bats came alive, but they had some costly fielding errors,” Northeastern Clinton coach Jerry Davison said. “In the fifth inning, we were able to put four runs on the board after they totaled four errors.”

After getting tagged for six runs through three frames, Marcus Lefebvre surrendered just one hit in the final four innings in a complete-game performance.

“I was surprised at his ability to bounce back,” Davison said. “When we were down four runs, I didn’t really know what to expect. They jumped on us pretty good, but we settled down.”

Lefebvre finished with nine strikeouts and two walks.

Junior first baseman Garrett Begore registered three hits and four RBI to pace the Cougars. Alex Lamberton and Lefebvre each added two hits a piece.

Logan Wood and Jonathan McCabe slapped two hits each for the Red Storm.

LAKE PLACID — Ryan Trudeau fired nine strikeouts in five innings of work as he and Michael Graney shared a shutout on the mound for the Sentinels.

“We walked them nine times and committed four fielding errors,” Blue Bombers coach Brian Brandes said. “They hit the ball well when they needed to. We helped them get on base, and they hit themselves around.”

Trudeau helped his own cause at the plate, slugging three RBI.

Mark Donahue and Miles Austin each added two hits for Ticonderoga.
