Split decision in tennis

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh and Northeastern Clinton had three-of-five matches go three sets, with the Cougars capturing two of them to grab a 3-2 win in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys’ tennis Monday.

Brendan Boutin defeated Chris Gray, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at No. 2 singles for Northeastern Clinton. Austin Tetreault and Devan McManus were 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 winners at No. 2 doubles over Matt Bracy and Guillermo Saguar.

Adam Khater and McKenna Hunter captured a win for the Cougars at No. 1 doubles.

Alex Racine and Brendan Whalen were winners for the Hornets.

Plattsburgh captured all three singles matches in its 3-2 win over Northeastern Clinton.

Marle Curle, Kelsey Senecal and Olivia Carlsson were each two-set winners for the Hornets.

The Cougars captured both doubles matches, but needed three sets to do so.

Andrea Mossey and Aryana Kellison, and Morgan Rabideau and Sarah Babbie each picked up wins for Northeastern Clinton.

No. 1- Khater/Hunter (NCCS) def. Girard/Dodge, 6-0, 6-2. No. 2- A. Tetreault.McManus (NCCS) def. Bracy/Saguar, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

No. 1- Curle (PHS) def. Miller, 6-1, 6-0. No. 2- Senecal (PHS) def. LaValley, 6-3, 6-2. No. 3- Carlsson (PHS) def. Slater, 6-1, 6-1.


No. 1- Mossey/Kellison (NCCS) def. Kneifel/Cantwell, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. No. 2- Rabideau/Babbie (NCCS) def. Marlow/LeClair, 6-1, 6-7(7-2), 6-4.




LAKE PLACID — Keegan Barney didn’t drop a game in his two-set victory at No. 2 singles to lead the Blue Bombers over the Patriots.

Steven Jelinek and Justin Stosiek picked up wins for Lake Placid in singles. The Blue Bombers won both doubles matches by forfeit.

Georgia O’Leary, Victoria O’Leary and Joan O’Leary won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 for Lake Placid.

The best match of the day was in No. 2 doubles where Sophie Morrelli and Kayla Hudson needed three sets to defeat AuSable Valley’s Hannah Lawrence and Emily McDonald.
