United Way hosting golf tourney June 13

ADIRONDACK— The United Way of the Adirondack Region INC. is planning the 13th annual Olympian Celebrity Golf.

The event will be held Thursday, June 13 at the Craig Wood Golf and Country Club in Lake Placid. Each three member team will be paired with an Olympic celebrity. After the round of golf there will be a steak and chicken barbeque and drawing for prizes.

The cost is $450 for a three-person team which includes green fees, cart and dinner . The team will be joined by a celebrity guest and prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place finishes.

Tee Box sponsorship is available for $200, hole flag sponsorship for $100, advertising space in the golf classic program back cover $500, Inside cover $450, full page $400, 1/2 page $200 and business card $100.

Donaldson records hole-in-one

SARANAC — Craig Donaldson aced the 129-yard par 3 third hole at the Saranac Inn Golf Club Saturday.

Using his 9-iron, it was his first ace in six years of playing golf.

The hole-in-one was witnessed by Wayne Donaldson, Brent Fitzgerald and Tristin Fitzgerald.

Adirondack Trail Run set for June 15

WILMINGOTON— The Mountaineer in Keene Valley will be hosting the ninth annual Great Adirondack Trail Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15. The first run will be from Hopkins Mountain and down to Keene Valley. The second will be a 3.5 mile run will be from Baxter Mountain Tavern to Keene Valley at 10 a.m.

Event proceeds will support the AuSable River Association and the Boquet River Association.

For those who wish to attend and support your river association there will be vendors, live entertainment, food and drinks at 11:30 a.m. at the Keene Valley Country Club. The club is located at 8 Country Club off of NYS Route 73. The proceeds from the event will support the AsRA and BRASS watershed improvement efforts.
