Sawyer's 37 leads Red Storm over Hornets


PLATTSBURGH — Ethan Sawyer carded a 37 to take medalist honors and lead Saranac Lake to a 5-1 win over Plattsburgh High in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference golf Friday at Bluff Point Golf Resort.

Dustin Fischer also had a good round for the Red Storm, shooting a 39. Blake Gregory, Austin Ecret and Teddy Yanchitis recorded their other victories.

Alex Odnoha earned a point for Plattsburgh at match No. 4 after posting a 48, and Nick Dodd had the Hornets’ best round with a 41.

Moriah 5, Seton Catholic 1

PERU — Dylan Scozzafava was medalist with a 40 as he led the Vikings past the Knights.

Derek Brassard, Kyle Wilson, Travis Nephew and Cory Daly also recorded wins for Moriah.

Joe Zalis had Seton Catholic’s low round with a 51 and won match No. 4.

Peru 5½, Au Sable Valley ½

AUSABLE FORKS — Jordan Guay posted a 37 to win the first match and help the Indians beat the Patriots.

Matt Nugent, Tyler Lemza, Christian Mattila and Gavin Plimpton also picked up victories for Peru. Kyle Miller halved his match with AuSable Valley’s Kyle Hart.

Nate Devins had the Patriots’ best round with a 40 in match No. 1.

ROUSES POINT — Nolan Reid had the low round of the match with a 40 as he led the Cougars to a shutout victory.

Reid edged Tyler Begore, who shot a 41, in the No. 1 match. Alex Duffy, Chris Kokes, Cody Young, Chad Littlefield and Zachary Guay also earned wins for the Cougars.

LAKE PLACID — The Red Storm prevailed 174-175 in a tie-breaker after the two teams tied 3-3 at Craig Wood Golf Course.

Saranac Lake’s Dustin Fischer was medalist on the day on the par-35 back nine with a 39. Carly Sawyer (43) and Teddy Yanchitis also won matches for the Red Storm.

Kiefer Casler was low man for the Blue Bombers with a 40. Ryan Kane and Patrick Kane (43) were winners in their matches.

TICONDEROGA — Nick Arnold shot a 39 and won his No. 2 match 5 and 4 to lead the Warriors to a Mountain and Valley Athletic Conference win at Ticonderoga Country Club on Friday.

Walker Lobdell carded a 43 to win 3 and 1 at No. 1, while Tyler Bridge, Erik Manning, Tanner Graves and Paul Fine-Lease also won their matches.

Noah Macey led Crown Point with a 49.

SCHROON LAKE — Connor Marvin shot a 39 to lead the way for the Lions in their win over the Wildcats.

But Marvin split the first match with Alex Shaughnessy, who shot a 40 to pace Schroon Lake.

Cortland White, Hunter Farrell, Boyce Rawson and Trevor Brooks were all winners for Elizabethtown-Lewis.

Tanner Stone captured the Wildcats a victory at No. 2.
