ROUSES POINT — The North Country Golf Club will host The Barracks Golf Club in Sunday’s Champlain Cup 2012, an annual interclub match between members of the two courses.
The format is two-man teams playing match play, with each match worth one point. There are 18 points available, and The Barracks needs nine points to retain its title. The event starts at 9 a.m. on holes one and10, and there are 72 golfers and 36 teams competing.
Players teeing off on the first hole play the following: holes one through eight scramble; holes nine through 16 better ball; and holes 17 and 18 alternate shot, with both players teeing off on both 17 and 18.
Players teeing off the 10th hole play the following: holes 10 through 17 scramble; holes 18 through seven better ball; and holes eight and nine alternate shot, with both players teeing off on both eight and nine.
The two clubs take turns hosting the event and this year’s Cup has multiple club champions taking part. The Barracks won last year’s tournament by a half point.
“I’m very proud of our team this year and feel privileged to be the captain of all these guys,” said Dustin Beauregard, Head Professional and Director of Golf at the NCGC. “We had a very close battle recently in a Canadian interclub contest and came out on top. The guys are excited for more competition.”
