YMCA/U First Credit Union tournament today

PERU — The 10th-annual Plattsburgh YMCA/U First Federal Credit Union Golf Tournament will be held today at Adirondack Golf & Country Club with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Hamelin, Duprey lead weekly bicycle time trials

POINT AU ROCHE — Battling windy conditions, Corey Hamelin turned out the fastest time of the night on Aug. 7 with a 24:14 in the 10-mile event at the weekly bicycle time trials. Hamelin was followed by Mary Duprey in 25:22 and Matthew Speirs in 25:30. Duprey was also the first female overall, followed by Lynne Murray in 26:30.

The time trials take place on Wednesday nights at the Point au Roche firehouse on the Lakeshore Road. The event is free and open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes or mountain bikes. Helmets are mandatory and all riders must obey the rules of the road. Sign-ups start at 5:30 p.m., with the first rider going off at 6 p.m. Riders can chose either five or 10-mile courses.
