10 YEARS AGO (2002)

Stephen Peryea cracks a pair of 3-run homers as the Altona Hornets blast the Lyon Mountain Miners 21-2 to snap the Miners’ 12-game winning streak.

Heather Brewer scores 3 goals to lead unbeaten Lady Giroux’s to a 7-2 win over King’s Construction in North Country Women’s Soccer League play. Michelle Derrigo’s 3 goals spark Garrow & Sons to a 5-1 win over the City Kickers.

Nate Bilow scores 24 points, Brad Manor chips in with 16 and Mike Martin adds 15 to lead The Owlyout to a 76-71 win over previously unbeaten Peabody’s in Men’s Summer Basketball League action.

Diavalo Fletcher, Aaron Judd, Donny Coolidge, Matt McCormick, David Waldron, T.J. Mussaw and Cory Desmaris lead the Clinton County Mariners’ attack in a 14-2, 14-2 sweep of Granville.

Cory Connors and Travis Duprey score goals to lift MultiMedia Marketing to a 2-0 triumph over Chateaugay in men’s soccer.

20 YEARS AGO (1992)

Kevin Bordeau belts a 3-run homer while David Smith, Brett Paepke and Mike Poveda each contribute 3 hits as Plattsburgh Post beats the Post 326 Adirondacks 15-5.

Greg Anderson passes for 2 scores and Matt Sames tosses a TD pass as the Plattsburgh North Stars hold on to edge the Staten Island Bulldogs 28-27 in their Empire Football League opener. James Zigler scores twice while Tommie Wilder and Jerome McCray each add a touchdown for the Stars. Shawn McGee contributes a 28-yard field goal.

Irene LaCount of Plattsburgh finishes first in B Division All Events and fourth in singles in the New York State Women’s Bowling Association Tournament. Joanne Ferris of Keeseville comes in second in C Division singles while Julie Liberty and Jean Wood of Plattsburgh place second in doubles.

25 YEARS AGO (1987)

Scott Baker pitches a one-hitter and Lee Yaeger a seven-hitter as the Redford River Rats sweep Lyon Mountain 1-0, 12-2 to take sole possession of first place in the CVBL. Timmy Drollette, Tim Newell, Robin Vaughan, Eric Keysor and Glenn Petrashune are the offensive stars for Redford.
