10 YEARS AGO (2002)

The LaBarge brothers demolish the Midas Mudhens in Champlain Valley Baseball League play. Dennis LaBarge tosses a 6-hit shutout in the opener and goes 3-for-3 with a grand slam in the nightcap as the Altona Hornets win 6-0, 15-5. Jamie LaBarge

belts a pair of 3-run homers and knocks in 10 runs on the day.

Dickie King

scores 3 goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift Chazy/Giroux’s to a 3-2 win over Chazy/SGS in North Country Men’s Soccer League play.

Claude Bergeron

of Valleyfield, Que. is the top power boat in the ABC22/Lake Champlain Challenge, based at the city beach.

April Miller scores twice and Amy Murphy

adds a goal and an assist in Lady Giroux’s 4-0 soccer win over the Elm Tree Inn.

Todd Hughes drives in 3 runs while Ryan Degon and Jon Dumas each add 2 hits to lead the Malone Legion to a 7-6 win over Brockway Mechanical. Sam Adams

Roy Ebersole raps out 5 hits, Jon Munson chips in with 4 and Chris King

clubs 2 homers as the Plattsburgh Cardinals wrap up the CVBL pennant with a 13-4, 8-3 sweep of Sportsman’s Lounge.

Robin Vaughan

goes 2-for-2 with a home run as King’s Trucking defeats Post 1619 8-3 in a battle of Adirondack Slo-Pitch Softball division leaders.

Mike Perrotte

is knocked unconscious after his racer rolls end-over-end at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. The 14-year veteran suffers a concussion, sprained neck and assorted bumps and bruises.
