CHAZY — Jordan Knight scored a goal and assisted on two others Wednesday night as Plattsburgh High School rolled into the Section VII Class B boys' soccer finals with a 3-0 win over Saranac.
The defending champion Hornets oppose Northeastern Clinton at 7 p.m. in Chazy on Friday for the B title.
Knight gave the Hornets the lead at 20:30 of the first half when he took a thru ball from Jordan Conroy and scored on a breakaway in close.
Knight then sent a diagonal pass to Conroy, who one-timed the ball into the net at 2:31 of the second half for a 2-0 Plattsburgh lead.
The Hornets added their third goal at 33:29 when Knight took the ball down the left side and passed it to C.J. Worley, who one-timed the ball into the net.
"We possessed the ball very well tonight and shielded it well," said Plattsburgh coach Chris LaRose. "We were able to keep the pressure on their defense. Offensively, we finished when we needed to.
"Saranac has some speed on the outside, and we didn't let them beat us to the ball."
The Hornets outshot the Chiefs 29-4 and Chris Roenbeck, making his first career start in net, made four saves for the shutout. Bill Badger stopped 17 shots for Saranac.
"Jordan Conroy and Drew Wyand did a great job controlling the midfield for us, while Ethan Votraw and Jordan Knight played well up top," said LaRose.
"For Saranac, Badger was strong in net, while seniors Alex Holtsclaw, Matt Hamilton and Mitch Wood played well."
