WESTPORT — Lake Placid fell behind, 2-1, in the first five minutes of its Section VII Class D boys' soccer quarterfinal against host Westport Friday afternoon.
The Blue Bombers, however, rallied to take a 3-2 advantage at the half and added one more after intermission in a 4-2 victory to advance to the semifinals against Chazy.
Evan Knox's goal at 27:10 of the first half broke a 2-all tie and sent the Blue Bombers on their victory.
Andrew Baird added two goals and Dylan Cassidy one for Lake Placid, which held a 13-8 shot advantage.
Cassidy gave the Blue Bombers the lead just 53 seconds into the contest, but Nathan Gay tallied goals at 2:12 and 4:33 to rally Westport into a 2-1 lead.
"We went flat a little bit in the second half," said Westport coach Mike Davis. "We had opportunities, but couldn't get back in.
"Knox is a nice player for them — he can make a lot happen. It was nice to see Nathan Gay get a couple of goals in the last game of his career."
Frank Bazzicaulopo made three saves in the Lake Placid nets and Jesse Stevens six stops for Westport.
