AMC, ARC golf tourney winners listed



LAKE PLACID -- Bob Farmer, Andy Donatello, Mike Ritchie and Tim Thayer posted a low gross score of 58 to take top honors in the Adirondack Medical Center Benefit Golf Tournament held Friday over the Crowne Plaza Lake Placid Club's Mountain Course. The sun broke through for the first time in a week providing a picture perfect day of golf for the 188 players.

A low gross of 59 earned first-place honors in Flight Two for the Burgess Enterprise team of Katelyn Mannix, Marty Mannix, Dr. Soham Patel and Gil Zahn, while Flight Three top honors went to Dr. John Broderick, Chuck Dobson, Jared Marshall and Bill Marinis with a low gross of 67.

The team with the "most honest" low gross score of 86 was also recognized with Shirley Aikens, Jennifer Furnia, Beth Hanley and Chelley Martineau of Mountain Medical Ladies each taking home a prize for their efforts.

Both a longest drive and closest to the pin contests were held with AMC's Colleen Farmer and Jen Patnode claiming the respective ladies' titles while Richard Herbert of the Benefit Group of New England drove 295 yards to earn the men's longest drive honors and Bill Smith claimed the men's closest to the pin honors on the 4th hole.

Lightning struck twice for Gail Mercurio of Plattsburgh who won both a one-week stay in Myrtle Beach and the 50/50 raffle worth $610.

Two lucky random draw winners took home a Callaway X460 and a Nike Sumo driver. The Flight One winning team claimed the lone skin of the event worth $600. Bob Breen of Saranac Lake and Chris Wilkes of HANYS Solutions were the two semifinalist in the $10,000 putting contest, and made a valiant effort on trying to sink the 50-foot final putt.

The 47 teams helped raise more than $45,000 for Adirondack Medical Center programs and services.

MetLife team ARC Foundation winners

PERU -- The MetLife team of Steve Hudak, Paul Serafin, Brian McGuire, Luke Hudak and Dan McGuire took first place in the 15th-Annual ARC Foundation Golf Tournament held Friday at the Adirondack Golf & Country Club.

The tournament, sponsored by CFA Insurance Agency, Keeseville Pharmacy and HP Hood, netted more than $30,000 with all proceeds going to benefit persons with intellectual and other developmental disabilities and their families in Clinton County.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top three teams for gross scores, the top three teams for net scores and for the best all women's team.

The winning teams for best gross scores were:

1st: MetLife -- Steve Hudak,Paul Serafin, Brian McGuire, Luke Hudak, Dan McGuire

2nd: McBride's Chevrolet -- Chip Reynolds, Glenn Coupal, Todd Coupal, Casey Colburn, Bobby Douglas

3rd: James M. Johnson -- Jim Johnson, Cornelia Forrence, Larry Jeffords, Tom Raville, John Carpenter
