PLATTSBURGH -- The Bi-Annual Cardinal Hockey Reunion will honor past Plattsburgh State greats Joey Ferras and Jim Duran this weekend.
Duren was inducted into the Plattsburgh State Sports Hall of Fame last October and Ferras will be inducted this coming October.
"Joey Ferras' career accomplishments at Plattsburgh State speak for themselves," said Plattsburgh State men's hockey coach Bob Emery. "I didn't coach him during his tenure here, but I've met him several times and he is very professional.
"Joey has gone on to have both a professional playing and coaching career. He has coached minor league pro hockey the last six years. He was a two-time All-American at Plattsburgh State and still holds the all-time scoring record for all divisions of college hockey.
"Jim Duran. meanwhile, is looked upon in a different scope. He is known more for his outstanding leadership and is the best captain the program has ever had in my tenure as head coach. Jim captained the 1992 national championship-winning team that lost only one game to Division III opponents and his Hall of Fame honor is well deserved."
The weekend's festivities will begin on Friday night at 6 p.m. with the alumni hockey games, featuring some standout Plattsburgh State players of the past, at the Lake City Stars Arena. The public is invited to attend.
Saturday, at 8 a.m., there will be an alumni golf tournament at Bluff Point Golf & Resort.
Later at 6 p.m, at Geoffrey's Pub, there will be a barbecue with the public invited to attend. The cost per adult is $20 and the public is invited. At 7 p.m., there will be a ceremony honoring both Ferras and Duran.
"This is a great way for our fans to come out and help us honor two of our all-time greats at Plattsburgh State ," Emery said.
