Lake Placid horse show postponed
LAKE PLACID — Due to inclement weather, the $75,000 Hermes Grandprix CSI 2* at the 32nd Annual I Love New York Horse Show has been postponed until today at 10 a.m.

Earlier Saturday, Jennifer Waxman won the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort Junior Jumper Classic on Shakira, and Callie Bass won the Charlotte Bobcats Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic on Zorros's Precision MBA.

Fast-pitch tourney committee to meet
AUSABLE FORKS — The final meeting of the AuSable Forks Fast-Pitch Tournament committee will be held at Billy Mitchell Memorial Field on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Plans for the 47th-annual tournament, to be held july 10-12, will be finalized.

North Country Baseball Camp scheduled
PERU — The North Country Baseball Camp will be held July 13-17 at Laphams Mills Park. Camp hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 9 a.m.-noon on Friday.

Plattsburgh soccer camps have openings
PLATTSBURGH — There are still openings remaining for the Plattsburgh Soccer Camps. Option 2 is for boys and girls ages 6-12 and runs July 20-24 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Option 3 is for boys and girls ages 13-18 and also runs from July 20-24 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Option 3 will also have individualized goalkeeper training.

Peru Youth Football Camp July 20-23
PERU — The Peru football coaching staff will host its' 2009 Youth Football Camp July 20-23 at the Peru Central School Football Complex. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-noon each day and is open to all area children ages 8-13.

Beekmantown Boosters to meet July 14
BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Booster Club, due to the holiday weekend, has changed its' monthly meeting date to Tuesday, July 14. The meeting will be held in the school library at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. New members are welcome. For more information, contact Letitia Taylor at 561-4271.

Ruff wins 10-mile time trial
POINT AU ROCHE — Jay Ruff placed first in the 10-mile bicycle time trial Wednesday, posting a time of 24:45, followed by Peter Christopher (26:35) and Winslow Moore (28:23). Sabine Amoriell was the first female to cross the line in a time of 29:47.

Scott Woodward of Placid Planet (PPCT) broke the 25-mile course record with a time of 57:20. The previous record, 58:53, was set by Charlie Mitchell in 1992. Doug Chase (Team SIS) was second in the 25-mile event with a time of 1:01:22 and Jason Amoriell (PPCT) took third in 1:02:29. Mary Duprey (PPCT) was the only female in the 25-mile event with a time of 1:04:38, and Judy Taylor turned in a time of 22:27 in the 5-mile event.

The time trials will continue throughout the summer every Wednesday night at the Point au Roche Fire Station. The event is open to all novice and experienced riders, road bikes or mountain bikes. Helmets are mandatory, and all riders must obey the rules of the road. Signup starts around 5:30 p.m. with the first rider going out at 6:00 p.m. Riders interested in the 25-mile event should be prepared to start between 5:30-5:45.

Thomas pours in 37 in hoop league
PLATTSBURGH — Steve Thomas scored 37 points and Nick O'Meara 29 to lead the Joe Reif Team to a 90-79 win over Thomson Orthodontics during the opening night of play in the City of Plattsburgh Open Men's Summer Basketball League. Ian Passino scored 21 points, Dustin Gratto 20 and Matt Hughey 11 for Thomson's.

Nate Bilow tossed in 26 points, Tim Barnewall 17 and Jerrod Dumont 14 in Chateaugay's 79-71 win over Lashway's Meat Market/Heald Funeral Home. Ricky McCann tossed in 30 points in a losing cause and Travis Lavarnway added 15.

Meanwhile, Anthony Wllliams and Chris Ruiz netted 20 points apiece, while Travis Gorham added 12 in the Mean Green's 88-63 victory over Vergennes' Variety.

Basketball camp being held
BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Youth Commission will hold a basketball camp July 6-10 for children enrolled in grades three through nine. The camp will be run each day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Beekmantown Central High School gymnasium and will cost $10 for residents and $36 for non-residents. Basketballs are included. Summer Volleyball Academy July 13
The 4th Annual Summer Volleyball Academy will begin with week Monday, July 13. The varsity session is currently closed out and spots are still available for the JV session. Athletes are not required to attend both sessions/weeks — weekly rates are available. The Academy brochures are available on the BCS webpage www.bcsdk12.org under the athletics link. Three-on-three soccer tourney set
CHAZY — A three-vs.-three co-ed soccer tournament will be held Saturday, July 18 at the Chazy Recreation Park to benefit the Chazy girls' hockey team. Registrations are due July 10.

All tournament information is on the Saranac girls' soccer website, at www.girlssoccer.saranac.site.eboard.com. There will be age divisions from U-8 through high school. Teams must have at least five on the roster. There must be two girls on the roster and at least one girl on the field at all times.
