Hogan wins cadet state wrestling title
BINGHAMTON -- Peru's Patrick Hogan, competing at 119 pounds, won the Greco-Roman class to become a state champion this past weekend at the New York State Cadet Wrestling Championships, for ages 14, 15 and 16, held at Broome Community College. Hogan compiled a 5-0 record in the three-day event at 119 pounds and recorded a 4-2, 6-3 win over Chenango Forks' Jordan Dyer in the finals. A wrestler had to win two of three periods to win his match.
Hogan, who also finished sixth at 119 in Freestyle, will compete in the Nationals to be held in July in Fargo, North Dakota.
Two other area wrestlers also competed. Peru's Jacob Goddeau, competing at 98 pounds, finished fourth in the Greco-Roman and fourth in the Freestyle. Saranac's Ryan Guynup, who was at 135 pounds, took third in Greco-Roman and did not place in Freestyle.
Mariners Legion team schedules tryouts
PLATTSBURGH -- The Clinton County Mariners American Legion baseball program will hold three tryout sessions this month. The schedule includes: May 18, 5 p.m., Chip Cummings Field; May 24, 5 p.m., Lefty Wilson Field; and May 25, 5 p.m., Chip Cummings Field.

Saranac Central seeks fall coaches
SARANAC -- Saranac Central School is accepting applications for the following fall coaching positions: varsity football, junior varsity football, modified football, varsity cheering advisor, boys and girls varsity soccer, boys and girls junior varsity soccer, boys and girls modified soccer and varsity cross-country.

Bowl Mart summer leagues to begin
ROUSES POINT -- The Summer League 9-Pin Mixed Adult League at Bowl Mart Lanes will begin on May 15 at 8 p.m.
The Friday Night 9-Pin Adult/Junior League will start on May 16 at 9 p.m.
There will be a meeting for both leagues at 7:30 p.m., with bowling to follow. Anyone interested in bowling can call Bowl Mart Lanes, at 297-6106.

CCFOA golf tournament set for June 1
WESTPORT -- The CCFOA will be holding its annual golf tournament on June 1 at Westport Golf & Country Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
Proceeds will go to the association's scholarship fund. The format is a 4-person scramble, with a modified Oldsmobile handicap. The entry fee is $200 per team pre-paid by May 25 and $240 per team the day of play. A $10 deduction per player will be given to Westport members.
Cash prizes will be given as in years past. Entry fee includes golf, cart, meal, prizes, drinks and gift. For more information, or to register, call Tom Daly at 643-0522 (evenings) or 569-0780 (days).
Men's Soccer League starting June 7
PLATTSBURGH -- Men's summer league soccer will be starting June 7. Games will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 6 p.m. The cost for each team will be $860. For any other information or questions about joining contact Stephen Dupruy at (518) 570-8574.
