SCHROON LAKE -- Ethan Tyrrell turned in another strong pitching performance in Schroon Lake's 2-0 victory over Chazy in Mountain & Valley Athletic Conference baseball on Thursday.
Tyrrell allowed six hits, struck out 10 and did not walk anyone in going the distance. Losing hurler Chris Vliege matched Tyrrell before the Wildcats (6-1) pushed across two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Tyrrell worked out of potential trouble in the top of the sixth with his second pickoff of the game.
Tyrrell then opened the home half of the inning with a single and a hit batsman followed. The Wildcats executed a double steal, with Tyrrell scoring the first run of the game on an error. Anthony Vanderwalker's infield grounder then plated the second run.
Jason Baker rapped a single and double for Chazy and Kyle Reynolds added a triple with one out in the seventh. Tyrrell, however, got the next two hitters.
