Perspective

When something bad happens in the USA, it is called a scandal. When something bad happens overseas, it is call corruption. Where the VA scandal is concerned, that is corruption at its worst, and it started with top government officials. They all need to resign and start anew.

Confidence

Teachers, take time to read the May 28 editorial “Making a lifetime of difference.”  After that, could you please stop telling the kids they are not going to do well on the Common Core math test. Build their confidence.

Fish

Lake Champlain slipped from No. 2 to No. 27 as fishing lake. The significant reduction in fish population due to all the fishing derbies has finally taken its toll. It was never a good idea to let the pros take the breeders out of our lake.

Sales

Ways for all yard-sale enthusiasts to get along better: Don’t block others’ ways of exit/entrance if it’s not your own driveway. Take turns, don’t push and shove. Don’t over-advertise, we don’t want to waste gas money either. Smiling helps.

Resource officer

Sheriff Cutting should simply heed to public sentiment regarding COPS. There no interest from the schools, no money and a current perception of an already overstaffed department. At $72K each, wouldn’t Essex County be better served by more teachers in the school’s halls rather than more armed officers?

Desertion

I always was told that desertion by a soldier in a time of war was punishable by death. Do we not have a Uniform Code of Military Justice? This president must be stopped before he turns us into an Islamic-ruled state which he would like.

 Bicycle

I don’t appreciate you stealing my bicycle from the Kinney drugs on Veterans Lane. This is only way I get to work, do my daily errands, pick up my son from school. Get a job, and buy your own bike.
