Road Construction Roundup: July 14, 2009

PLATTSBURGH — The 2009 road-construction season is under way.

Fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. Drivers are asked to use caution in work zones to protect the occupants of cars and the highway workers.

General maintenance projects are going on around the North Country. Crews are ditching, mowing, sweeping, washing bridges, cleaning culverts and doing guard-rail work.

Here's a look at some of the major road work being done around the North Country:

CLINTON COUNTY
Silver Lake Road Bridge, Black Brook: The bridge will be replaced starting this summer. The structure will be closed to traffic, with a detour in place, until the replacement is complete, around June 26, 2010. Traffic will be maintained during the winter months.
