DELAYS Haven't seen your Speakout? There are a few possible reasons.
We won't publish Speakouts that are longer than 100 words or that we consider libelous or inappropriate, including personal attacks, merchant complaints that we can't verify and court matters.
Also, once a topic seems to have run its course, we will cut those for a time. The point has been made, and writers are always welcome to send a signed Letter to the Editor of no more than 300 words for publication on the Editorial page.
Lastly, if you haven't seen your Speakout yet, you might just need a little patience. It has proven hugely popular, and most days, we have hundreds of column inches waiting to get in. News articles have priority, but we try to get in a little Speakout each day.
If you have any questions, call News Editor Lois Clermont at 565-4131.
Trucks In regards to the trucks on Soper Road in Keeseville, they can only go so slow; maybe you should try driving one of those trucks. And they are only trying to do their job. Some people are never happy. You want the roads repaired, but you don't like the trucks going by — can't have it both ways, you know.
Electric car I might be mistaken, but didn't we foot the bill for an electric car for the mayor to drive around the city? Just wondering, since I see him driving around a gas-sucking SUV every day.
Skimpy Skimpy clothing belongs on the beach or in the bedroom — not in places of education or work. Victoria's Secret clothing is supposed to be secret for a reason. People shouldn't be flashing their assets everywhere. To those of you who dress like you know your breasts aren't supposed to come close to falling out, your butt isn't hanging out and your belly isn't showing your latest piercing, thank you. To the rest of you, I now agree that everywhere there should be uniforms. If you're so dumb that you can't pick out decent clothes, someone should pick them for you.
Passing I was coming around a curve at 45 miles per hour. What do I see coming at me? A big, white van. The curve had a double yellow line. I blared my horn. No use. The driver had decided to go around an entire line of cars. So the driver had to wait for some of the cars to go faster and some to go slower, so the van could be squeezed in. There was a 1/2 car wide shoulder for my full car. Van got back in. Hope you learned something. Next time, a motorcycle or semi could be there.
Sewer As a resident of the town of Plattsburgh, living on the Tom Miller Road, I am concerned that town sewer was put in for only a portion of Tom Miller Road. Several residents have expressed an opinion in favor of town sewer, yet projects in nearby areas, i.e. the Spellman Road, have been approved and areas going east of the mall entrance have been denied access to the sewer project.
