Peru candidates

TO THE EDITOR: From my long association with the town, I can enthusiastically endorse three candidates in the coming election.

There are two Town Council seats up for grabs.

Jim Douglass, who is seeking re-election, can be counted on to help out whenever a problem arises. He’s interested in keeping our town running smoothly and is willing to work hard to accomplish that.

Don McBrayer is running for the open Town Council position. Don already donates generous amounts of his time to community-development projects. He’s very bright, gets along well with people, is a hard worker and, as an owner of several successful local businesses, will work toward making Peru as business friendly as possible. He regularly attends Town Council meetings and will hit the ground running. I’m really looking forward to seeing his input on the council.

There’s also a race for the town clerk/tax collector position. Kathy Flynn currently holds this position and does a great job. The town would be lucky to have her for another four-year term. When residents visit her office, she greets them by name, with a big welcoming smile, and then proceeds to take care of business. Her positive attitude and competence are huge assets to the town.

Willing to listen

TO THE EDITOR: Paul O’Connell has been a friend of ours for many years.

When we heard that he was running for councilor for Ward 4, our first impression was: He will be a great councilor.

Paul is the kind of man you want on the council. He is an honest, hard-working family man.

As retired city employees, we know how important it is to have people on the council that are willing to listen to the concerns of the people and then take those concerns and make the right decisions.
