Mother’s care

TO THE EDITOR: Please accept these sparse footnotes of appreciation regarding the recent passing of our mother, Dorothy Howard.

First, to Dick and Sue Rabideau of Plattsburgh. When time told her that an apartment would be more manageable than a house, thank you for treating mom like a neighbor, not simply a tenant.

To Laura Lacey and the residents of Apple Valley Senior Citizen housing of Peru. Thank you for assisting when necessary and allowing for personal space when wanted. Your invisible yet always present shield of protection enabled mom to live many years with a sense of being a respected member of society.

To the congregation of the Assembly of God Church in Plattsburgh. Thank you for putting into unceasing motion the commandment, love thy neighbor as yourself.

And, finally, to the staff and administration of Meadowbrook Healthcare. Thank you for engendering within our mom the tenet that growing old does not mean you have grown to be of no value to the largess of our community. Your respect for the dignity and worth of every human being within your care will forever be remembered and revered.

Business support

TO THE EDITOR: Thank you to all who supported Small Business Saturday. You helped make a big impact on small businesses in our community.

We appreciate your support and hope you’ll continue to “Shop Small” throughout the year.

Local small businesses strive to provide the best in knowledge, products and customer service. We support many local charitable organizations to help the community we all live in to be a better place. We are always pleased to help you and share a smile.

Once again, thank you to all of our North Country friends and customers.
