Applefest participants

TO THE EDITOR: The 2013 Peru St. Augustine’s Applefest was a great success again this year

As the entertainment coordinator, I would personally like to thank the Bootleg Band, Plattsburgh Pipe and Drums Band, Plattsburgh Gospel Choir and Merriloons the Clown for the wonderful job they did.

The Bootleg Band also went beyond the music for some fun in the dunking booth. The whole band raised enough money from the crowd to all end up being dunked, including myself.

What a great time had by all. These guys were fantastic. What great sports they were.

Thank you Carl Kokes for playing our national anthem on violin for us on Sunday. It was amazing.

You all did a wonderful job, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. To a great group of musicians, you were greatly appreciated. Merriloons, you did a good job keeping the children happy as always.

Looking forward to seeing all of you next year.

If you would like to see photos of this year’s doings, please go to Peru Gazette or St. Augustine’s Applefest 2013 or Peru Parish slide shows.

Consider coming next year to enjoy the fun.

TRUDY SNYDER

Applefest 2013 entertainment coordinator

Congress incumbents

TO THE EDITOR: Three cheers to the members of Congress. Hip,hip, horray! Hip, hip horray! Hip, hip horray!

The recent federal shutdown almost wants you to stop voting, if not forever, then at least to stop voting for the incumbents on a regular, stupid basis.

Why were congressional staff members necessary employees at this time of shutdown? They should have been furloughed.
