Domestic terrorism

TO THE EDITOR: I can’t be outside sometimes of my own home.

I can’t drive peacefully on the highway without harassment.

Yes, I would say that we have domestic terrorism right here in America that some of us have to suffer through. I would say that there is a community domestic terrorism where people want to terrorize and victimize other people and leave them in tears and upset.

However, I still love America and our freedom that we enjoy every day. I will keep flying my flag and pray for troops who are in harm’s way overseas and thank them for fighting for our rights and freedom here in America.

The flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.

Tourney successful

TO THE EDITOR: The fifth-annual Richard Harmon Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament held at Harmony Golf Club and Community on Aug. 24 was a great success.

Proceeds from this tournament were contributed to fund the scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded in June 2014 to a deserving AVCS senior to attend Clinton Community College in fall 2014.

Funds will also be used for the continued education of our 2013 recipient. Many thanks to our dedicated employees, golfers, hole sponsors and contributors.

Special thanks to Plattsburgh Distributing for providing the prizes for the tournament players, Murnane Building Contractors Inc., Marsha Homes and Steven E. Fuller Excavating Inc.

Success would not have been as grand without great sponsors like AC Home Improvements, Adirondack Hardware, Agency Insurance, Carron Electric Motors & Cycles, Champlain Valley Electric, Clute & Thompson, Curtis Lumber, Dame Enterprises, Empire Liquor, Esposito & Sons Freightlines, Bruce & Judy Frechette and Giroux Tree Service.

Also, Gordon Oil, Graymont, Hamilton Funeral Home, High Peaks Dental, Hungry Bear Restaurant, J&S Steel, Key R-D Trailer Sales, Lake Champlain Transportation, Lakeside Container Corp, Loreman’s , McCadam Distributing, Modern Neon Signs, Moore’s Flatwork and Foundations, LLC, North Country Club, Peru Central School Federal Credit Union, Peru Health Mart, Southern Wine & Spirits, Warren Tire, Gale Wilkins and the friends and family of Richard Harmon.

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to all our volunteers.
