TO THE EDITOR: The Association of Senior Citizens in Franklin County Inc. would like to thank everyone who offered their assistance to the Citizens Energy, Joe-for-Oil Program during its 2013-14 winter season, which took effect during the first part of February 2014.
The ASCFC extends a special note of thanks to its staff, the Office for the Aging and area volunteers. Specifically, Ona Rushford, service coordinator, for the data entry of a large portion of those individuals; Carole Ann Milljour, ASCFC’s assistant program director, for the time she spent on this project; and OFA’s staff, Penny Leonard, Shirley Biano and Michael Hanna, for their assistance as well.
Also, I would like to give special recognition to the volunteers: Dawn Fisher, Eileen Heading and Susan Wilson Scott for their time.
We could not have made such a huge impact this year if it had not been for the collaboration and support of these individuals.
I would also like to extend my sincere appreciation to the participating fuel dealers throughout the Franklin County area. These dealers need to realize that their senior customers value and appreciate their time and effort involved in this endeavor.
This year, we were allowed to enter 300 seniors, throughout Franklin County, into the Citizen’s Energy, Joe for Oil program at a cost savings of about $120,000.
Since 1979, this program has helped protect needy families from volatile heating costs, which most often force families to choose between heating their homes or paying for other life essentials. This program has been in effect since 1979.
