---- — Fallen heroes

TO THE EDITOR: Memorial Day is a national holiday, a day off from school and, to some, a day off from work and hopefully a day we take to honor our war dead.

The remembrance of our fallen heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice must continue by all of us until the end of time.

I would also like to remember “America’s finest,” who are buried in the hallowed grounds at Arlington National Cemetery. It is our duty to show respect to all of our servicemen and women and especially the Tomb of the Unknowns that holds the remains of our fallen heroes. The Memorial Amphitheater known as the Tomb of the Unknowns is our nation’s most sacred shrine to our military heroes. Sentinels or honor guards walk the walk with total respect, ongoing forever.

“Here rests in honored glory an American soldier, known but to God” is the inscription above the tomb. Today’s Americans remember Memorial Day; hopefully tomorrow’s Americans will, too.

As for me I will never forget the ones who gave all for our freedom. God bless, America.
