Successful event

TO THE EDITOR: On behalf of American Legion Unit 20 Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 125, we want to thank the many people who made our annual Children’s Christmas Party on Dec.14 such a huge success.

Things were difficult for many parents this year, and it’s great that our community cares as much as we do. Your donations made this important event extremely memorable.

Our heartfelt thanks for their monetary gifts to: Graymont Quarry, John Ryan, SAL Post 20, American Legion Post 20, VFW Post 125, George Ciccone, Lucille Black, Judy O’Brien, Monopole, Geri Buckley, Don Rushford and Carol Buckley; for donated gifts and food: Walgreens, Price Chopper, Yankee Dollar, Dan Stockdale, Dorothy Gorman, Kathy Brodie, McDonald’s, Stewart’s Ice Cream, Diamond Comics, Dunkin’ Donuts, Stacy Papineau, Sue and Connor Baker, Shirley Tourangeau, Sandy Bushey, David Justice and Robyn LaPierre; for advertising: TV Channel 17, Studley Printing and Press-Republican.

A special thank you to volunteers Judy Bourdeau, Maureen Harrigan, Mary Fredette, Connor and Sue Baker, Robyn LaPierre, Shirley Tourangeau, Janice Steigleman and Rainy Heagen. Thanks to Nancy Depo for the beautiful decorating; she outdoes herself every year. Last, but not least, thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, played to perfection by Dave and Carol Burleigh.

Thanks to two special ladies from American Legion Post 20 who took time out from their busy schedule to buy and deliver gifts to 32 veterans who live at Vilas and Meadowbrook nursing homes: Mary Somote and Margaret Page. Thanks for all you do for our veterans. We are so proud of you.

We apologize if we have forgotten anyone. Just know that we appreciate all efforts to help the Children and Youth Program during this special time of year.
