TO THE EDITOR: We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Essex County Sheriff’s Department for all the support you have shown our family over the last several months.
What started out as an opportunity for our son, Matthew, to be a deputy for a day and capture the “Lollipop Bandits” has evolved into a lasting friendship.
While there are many to thank, Sheriff Richard Cutting, Major Thomas Murphy and Devann Murphy have been at the forefront of helping us.
A special thank you to the Lollipop Bandits, Bob Rice and Lloyd Lamotte, for being such good sports. The deputies, correction officers and staff at the Sheriff’s Department have gone above and beyond public service.
To the other departments from Essex County and residents who have helped us, you have our sincerest thanks.
Finally, to all who live in Essex County, you should be proud of your public servants; they truly care about what they do in making Essex County a safer and better place to live.
Best wishes to our friends in Essex County for a happy and prosperous 2014.

Act of kindness
TO THE EDITOR: This letter is for the gentleman who helped me get my car off the road and into a parking lot.
He also gave me a ride to Keeseville.
Thank you very much. I will pass this act of kindness on.
TO THE EDITOR: The family of Thelma Tryon would like to thank all our friends and neighbors for all the help we received during our very difficult time.
A special thank you to Dr. Charles Moisan and his staff and to the Elizabethtown Hospital emergency room staff and the Westport Emergency Squad.
