Power, racism

TO THE EDITOR: It is little known and less appreciated that the genesis of American gun control is rooted in racism and fascism.

The first American gun restrictions were passed in the South following the Civil War to prevent Negros from arming themselves for their own protection.

In the aftermath of World War II, an American lawyer (later senator) named Thomas Dodd, participating in the the Nuremberg war crimes trials, returned to the States with a copy of the Nazi gun-control act, which became the template for further fascist “gun safety” laws in this country.

Am I inferring that the Democrat Party banning and confiscation fanatics of today are racists and fascists? No, I’m stating it in plain English.

Power beyond constitutional bounds is tyranny, and racism and fascism are the tools of its trade.

Caring neighbors

TO THE EDITOR: I would like to thank all the gracious neighbors and friends for the beautiful card, along with the donations.

My family has been through a difficult time and has been struggling due to the fire maliciously set by an arsonist to our home.

I am very touched by how my Lafayette Street neighbors showed their concerns for our well-beings. There are no words that can express the feelings and gratitude. My family has appreciated each and every person who was there to show their moral support to my family.

We all are grateful from the bottom of our hearts to have such beloved neighbors.

Weibrechts’ impact

TO THE EDITOR: The Mirror Lake Inn and Ed and Lisa Weibrecht are now servicing the second generation of children in our region after hosting the 27th-annual Joy to the Children Benefit for the LPCA.

The Weibrechts’ dedication to exposing all of our children to the arts goes above and beyond any imaginable expectation.
