Professional group

TO THE EDITOR: On Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Crete Civic Center, Xtreme Combat Promotions presents our fourth mixed martial arts show.

This would be a great time for those still doubting the legitimacy of mixed martial arts as a sport to come and see it for themselves.

XCP and its fighters have shown Plattsburgh that they are not a bunch of “knuckle draggers” and “rock biters,” as some incorrectly depicted them prior to our first show.

The local Plattsburgh Combat Sports team will be represented once again at our show — ready to show, once again, that they are a respectable, professional group.

Doubters, please come to the show and prepare to have your minds changed.

See you all at the Crete.

Fundraising support

TO THE EDITOR: I’m writing to thank the good folks at the Rainbow Lounge Wedding and Banquet Hall, Jane and Peck Sample, their son, Brannoin, and Dean Nephew, for hosting a beautiful bridal show as a fundraiser for the Traumatic Brain Injury Center at SUNY.

This is the ninth year the Samples have held this event to support activities that enrich the lives of survivors of brain injury.

One does not “heal” from a brain injury. The challenge is to learn to live with it.

The Samples understand how difficult this work is, which is why they support the efforts of the TBI Center to assist TBI survivors to lead productive lives while also providing some recreation and fun.

A hearty thank you goes to the vendors who supported this fundraising event: Studley Printing, the Carol Lee Shoppe, Ultimate Skin Solutions, AAA Northway, Overtime Photography, Leroy’s Chocolate Fountains, C.R. Tunes DJ & Photography, Cruise One, Timeless Images, Taylor Rental & Party Plus, The Retreat Salon & Spa, Best Western Plus Inn At Smithfield, KDL Productions, Through These Eyes Photography, TD Bank, Mary Kay, Hairstyles Unlimited, Great Impressions Portrait Studio, Photos Unlimited, Tuxedo Studio, Chair Affair, Sound Obsession DJ, DJ Flash, Dave’s DJ Service/Photobooth, Paparazzi and Accessories, Peryea LaBarge Insurance Agency/Allstate, It Works!, Good Guy Productions, Premier Jewelry Design, Party Effects DJ Service, Fashion Exchange, Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort, Brittany and Tonya Updo Specialists, A New Leaf, Ken Brodeur Photography and Marie Little Fawn Agan Options for the Northeast.

So please call on them when you are planning your treasured event, and say thank you for helping those less fortunate in our community.
