Change to believe in
TO THE EDITOR: Here we are enjoying the cooler weather, waiting for the leaves to change color, and watching all the politicians get ready for another election. But sit back for a moment: is this just another election? Does it matter who you vote for? What will these candidates do for me? If you have asked yourself any of these questions, I have an answer for you: Sam Dyer.

Sam Dyer is not your typical person. He has successfully owned and operated a dairy farm for 25 years. He has taken over a family business that has grown into the community and people know and love. He has raised two kids and showed them how to work hard and respect themselves and others. And with his wife, Mary, he has kept everything together no matter the circumstances.

Sam is a prominent business man and knows how to handle problems by being a manager on a professional level. When problems arise he doesn't run from them; he will do his best to solve them with a positive outcome. He also knows how to get things done right the first time while involving the right people in the decision making process. Sam will treat you as an equal and make sure things progress the way they are supposed to.

The position of highway superintendant in Beekmantown takes great passion and drive in doing the right thing and is one that is held to a higher stature. Before the past couple years, the job has been done well and don't we want someone doing the job well? We want someone who can manage a garage full of men and attend meetings regularly; we want someone who you can approach with questions and concerns; and we want someone that will make the town proud.

So when you go into that booth Nov. 3, don't just pull the lever for the name representing your party. Choose the best candidate for the job. President Obama is trying to bring the change to our country that we need; Sam Dyer will bring the Town of Beekmantown the change you believe in.

Office is bipartisan
TO THE EDITOR: I write to endorse Henry Hommes as Essex County Sheriff. Henry has run the office on a bipartisan basis, despite pressures on him to the contrary. He has avoided the temptation to grandstand, and kept the well being of the tax payers at the forefront.

Running the jail has not been easy in view of the controversy surrounding its construction but Henry has managed to bring professionalism to its administration, exactly the way you'd want the office of sheriff to be run. I am proud to support him for another four years.

Improvement needed
TO THE EDITOR: The town government in Beekmantown is badly in need of some major improvements. Michael Morales will make those improvements if he is elected to represent Beekmantown as a Town Councilman.

Mr. Morales has always attended board meetings and has not only indicated a need for improvement, but has actually taken the time to explain what would make his representation beneficial to the citizens of Beekmantown. Mr. Morales is vastly more qualified and compassionate than any other candidate for this position. Michael Morales is the only candidate for councilman who I will support on Election Day. He will ensure that every citizen in Beekmantown is heard and effectively represented by the Town Council.

Please take the time to consider what Mr. Morales can accomplish for Beekmantown and be sure to vote on Election Day.

Informed, resourceful
TO THE EDITOR: I have grown to know Kelly LaFountain over the past year and feel she will make a great town clerk for the Town of Beekmantown.

She is very knowledgeable and resourceful in many ways. Kelly is not afraid to work or 'get her hands dirty.' I have also seen her carry a high level of professionalism at many events that we have attended with her. Kelly volunteers for many charities and community functions from teaching religion, to taking minutes for area groups, to swinging a softball bat for cancer. She is an all-around North Country girl. These are all qualities in a person I want to elect into office.

Intelligence, ambition
TO THE EDITOR: It's time for a change in the town government in Beekmantown. Many voters are unaware of the many responsibilities we entrust the Town Council which will affect our quality of life.

We need someone who will respectfully represent the interests of the citizens of Beekmantown, and Gary Peacock is an outstanding example of a strong candidate for town supervisor. Mr. Peacock has the intelligence, ambition and compassion needed for such an important position. He will seek out and obtain grants which will benefit our town. He will listen to those he is elected to serve and will carefully research every option in order to be fair and impartial. This is one candidate I am proud to support and hope every voter in Beekmantown will take the time to consider voting for Gary Peacock for Beekmantown town supervisor.

Visible man
TO THE EDITOR: Who is Joe Giroux? Some people have said he is a man who is not very visible. One might call him invisible. Joe Giroux is the county treasurer you elected two years ago. He is a man who does not need his picture on the front page of our local newspaper or his name across the screen of our local TV stations. He is the man you elected to serve the people of Clinton County and that is exactly what he is doing.

Joe works closely with his staff, county and state officials to make sure the tax laws are being enforced. This is one of the jobs of the county treasurer. He works with the city, towns, villages and school districts to insure your property and school taxes are correct, again one of the jobs of the treasurer. Joe works with the taxpayer who is having trouble paying his or he taxes so they will not lose their homes. This, too, is one of the jobs of the treasurer.

So you see, Joe Giroux is visible in the county. He doesn't need the fame and glory to be your treasurer. All he wants is to do the job you elected him to do.

On Nov. 3 join me by re-electing the "Visible Man." Joe Giroux for county treasurer.

Fair, reasonable
TO THE EDITOR: I have known John Lawliss throughout his career in the State Police, his operation of a successful private investigative business and his tenure as Clinton County sheriff. He has served as town justice for the Town of Peru for the past four years.

His reputation as a judge is what you would expect from a good judge: he is fair, reasonable, honest and makes good decisions. His experience in the criminal justice system, along with his dedication, work ethic, life experiences and the compassion he displays when dealing with the public makes him well qualified to continue to serve the Town of Peru as town justice.
