stolen goods
TO THE EDITOR: I surely have had the "luck of the Irish" since I moved to this quiet little town of wonderful, friendly and neighborly people. I've been on this earth since 1929, happily raised on a farm in Altona, happily married in 1952, and lived from 1961 to 2004 in the hamlet of Brainardsville, Franklin County, raising a family of seven children. Peace-filled life. Why now! At this age and alone -- Vandalism on April 26 -- Now! Sometime between Friday, July 4, and Saturday, July 5, my green wicker set of two chairs, love seat and a coffee table were stolen from my front yard!
My next door neighbors were gone to camp, I was gone to a wedding and to camp. Now my furniture is gone!
This furniture means a lot to me (a gift from my children). My husband, Jim, and I used to sit on this love seat on our front porch in good ole Brainardsville.
I do not want anyone arrested! I just want my furniture back!
Maybe you needed extra seating for the 4th of July! But, I need it now! Company coming! Please return it! Thank you!

We are also grateful to Senator Betty Little for obtaining grant money in the sum of $5,000 for automation and programming as well as providing funds to improve our service to the public. This funding consists of two grants of $2,500 each for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.
We are indebted to both Stewart's and Senator Little.

&letterheadThanks for help with prom
TO THE EDITOR: The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Junior Class of 2009 would like to thank all the parents, chaperones and businesses who supported our junior prom that was held on May 31.
Additionally, the class would like to thank the Essex County Underage Drinking Prevention Task Force along with members Julia Garcia, Essex County District Attorney and Captain John Tibbetts, New York State Police for speaking to students in grades 9-12 to reinforce the message of an alcohol-free prom and after-prom party.
Last, the class would like to especially thank the Essex County Youth Bureau for providing a grant which made it possible to have a fun, safe, and alcohol and drug-free prom and after-prom party. This grant was used to obtain entertainment by Good Guys Productions and decorations for the prom which was greatly appreciated by the class.
To view more pictures of the prom, go to the following Web site at www.lindadollyphotography.com. Thanks again to all who made our Junior Prom a success.

&letterheadDrug tests
for recipients
TO THE EDITOR: It has become a very common practice to have prospective employees test negative for drugs and alcohol. State jobs are not granted to people who test positive.
I feel that people who receive Social Services assistance should also have to test negative for drugs and alcohol. This might help guarantee that state funds are being used wisely.
