---- — PTO grateful
TO THE EDITOR: The Momot PTO would like to thank our parents, staff and student volunteers for helping to make our 2013 picnic and open house an enjoyable evening for all.
We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to these businesses for their generous donations: Lashway’s Meat Market, Freihoffer’s Outlet, Target, Sullivan Orchard and Valley Vending.
Special thanks to the Plattsburgh City Police Department and Fire Department for joining us and providing our students and families with the opportunity to learn about the important work they do every day to keep our community safe.
Cardinals at mall
TO THE EDITOR: Champlain Centre mall recently hosted its first Meet the Cardinals event.
The attendees got to meet athletes from SUNY Plattsburgh’s fall teams. They also had the opportunity to get autographs and game schedules and enter raffles for a chance to win team merchandise.
Each team generously donated team merchandise and autographed photos and game balls to be raffled off. All proceeds were donated to the Treasure Chests Support Group of CVPH.
Treasure Chests is a breast-cancer support group, led by Elli Collins, which meets monthly to allow members the opportunity to receive support and encouragement.
We had 22 athletes come to the event, representing the men’s and women’s soccer teams, men’s and women’s cross-country teams, volleyball team and tennis team.
We would like to recognize and thank the athletes and coaches who came to the event: Tennis, Kaitlyn Healy, Ally Demeter, Jackie Ciriello, Olivia Wyand, Janel Weaver, Sarah Drexinger, Emily Carlin; men’s soccer, Steven Zacharczyk, Matt Hamilton, Tommy Greene, Joe Aratari; women’s soccer, Devin McMahon, Melissa Rodriguez, Emily LaLone; volleyball, Tasha Widrick, Ana Algieri, Jackie Mariotti, Tara Facey; women’s cross-country, Kelley Driscoll, Amanda Joskow; and men’s cross-country, Josh Herron, Ethan Vinson; and Coach George Stackpole, Coach Andrew Krug, Coach Dena O’Connell, Coach Karen Waterbury and Coach Chris Waterbury.
Thank you to Marty the Moose and Burghy for joining this fun event. We would also like to thank Sports Information Director Stephanie Dutton and Athletic Director Bruce Delventhal for their support.
Thanks again to Plattsburgh State athletics and the fall athletes who attended the Meet the Cardinals event. We had a fun time and raised money for a worthy cause.
We are currently planning a Meet the Cardinals winter event.
TO THE EDITOR: Where are the children?
The fetal death certificates filed with City Clerk’s office, Plattsburgh, for the years 1998-2007 inclusive, show 4,499. Over 1,500 of the children would be teenagers if allowed to live.
Does anyone now wonder where a large number of children went?
