Seniors festival

TO THE EDITOR: The second-annual Fall Festival, sponsored by the Association of Senior Citizens, the Franklin County Office for the Aging and Public Transportation, was held at Camp Overlook in Mountain View on Sept. 17.

More than 250 Franklin County seniors enjoyed a day of games, music, entertainment and a picnic prepared by Adult Center staff.

They also had the opportunity to learn more about programs and services open to them from vendors such as the Ombudsman Program, United Healthcare, pre-planned funeral care and the North Country Animal Shelter, which promoted a new program, “Providing Cats to Senior Citizens.”

County legislators attended including Tim Lashomb, Billy Jones, Gordon Crossman and Suzanne Robideau, and Sheriff Kevin Mulverhill was also present to honor our seniors.

Suzanne Robideau and her cloggers provided music and entertainment, and Association President Patricia Manchester presented a plaque to Marcel and Nonie Webb in honor of their years of service, dedication and commitment to the Board of Directors.

I would like to thank the entertainers, legislators, association board members and staff, the Office for the Aging staff, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Glazier’s, Bimbo, the adult center coordinators and volunteers for their help.

This year’s benefit, “Change the World, One Good Deed at a Time,” canned-good drive was very successful, and we plan to make it a Fall Festival tradition in honor of the victims of 9/11.

It is our privilege to serve the seniors of Franklin County, and I thank everyone involved. To learn more about our upcoming events, visit our website at

Thanks for benefit

TO THE EDITOR: Just a note of thanks to everyone who came out to the Scott Ashline benefit at Murphy’s in Peru to show their love and support for our family.

It was great to see old friends and family.
