Dixon’s the best
TO THE EDITOR: I am writing this letter to express my sincere gratitude for the contribution made by Coach Dixon, who improved and enhanced my life.
I had choices to attend Saddleback Community College in California and Hudson Valley Community College, and I refused both because the only reason I wanted to go to Clinton was just to be coached by her. She has taught me so much more than I would have ever imagined.
It’s not very common to find a competitive sports team where character is valued more than talent. Not only have I learned dedication, humility and sportsmanship from my years on the team, I’ve also learned to see the big picture in everything I pursue and to look at life with a positive attitude.
I feel that I have developed in sportsmanship and self-esteem under her coaching and guidance. She devoted so much time to us, teaching us not only the mechanics of basketball, soccer and softball but values that I am sure we will need throughout life.
Letting her go as an administrator and full-time coach would be a major loss for CCC. She put that school on the map, recruiting many strong athletes who represented the name of the Cougars, which brought our rivals to fear. Not only did she coach the team to nationals and win, she advised us when we needed help in school.
As a alumni athlete, I will be embarrassed and disgusted to say I have attended if Donna Dixon does not remain as full-time coach. She has given us so much time of her personal life and family time for the college and student-athletes just for her to get ripped of her position as administrator and the best coach this county and state has ever seen.
