Obama flights

TO THE EDITOR: Obama flies free on Air Force 1 to Denver, and taxpayers pay for this anti-gun agenda.

He flies Sandy Hook to Washington anti-gun campaigning.

Television adds with your money against your constitutional freedoms.

The White House is using your money against you and our Constitution. Ground these un-American plane rides.

Call these numbers and say no to this abuse and no to Bill S.649 and S.179.: Congressman Bill Owens, 563-1406; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, 202-221-4451; and Sen. Charles Schumer 202-224-6542.

Volunteers saluted

TO THE EDITOR: A peace activist once said, “Wisdom is knowing what to do next; virtue is doing it.”

Hospice of North Country would like to acknowledge the time and talents that our many Hospice volunteers provide our organization and especially our patients and their families by virtue of giving back to others.

Our organization values the time and energy our volunteers cheerfully and freely donate to our mission of providing quality of life at the end of life.

Our volunteers provide emotional support to our patient population through friendly visits, driving patients for errands, providing brief respite times for our emotionally drained families or simply stopping by to write a letter for or read to our patients.

Our volunteers are crucial in our fundraising. They rise early on days when they could choose to sleep in and are helping in golf tournaments, benefits, setting up tables for special Hospice events.

They are often the smiling voice on the other end of the telephone in our Hospice offices. They file, shred, and they do it freely and cheerfully.

Our volunteers are the heart of our Hospice of the North Country organization. We salute you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
