Experienced cited

TO THE EDITOR: Bonnie Berry has my unqualified support in her run for a seat on the Peru Central School Board.

I have known and admired Bonnie throughout her years as a Peru Central teacher and administrator. I believe that her experiences as both a teacher and administrator would bring unique insights to the School Board.

She has shown her expertise in interacting with children, parents, staff and the School Board in her previous positions serving the community.

She knows how to communicate effectively with the school community and has handled budgets in her role as an administrator.

Bonnie has also worked for BOCES and would also bring that knowledge and work experience to advance board issues.

I urge you to support Bonnie Berry for a seat on the Peru Central School Board.

Running in Peru

TO THE EDITOR: I am running for School Board in the Peru School District.

I have lived in the Peru School District since 1996. I am a mother of two, a nurse, an educator and a volunteer in our community.

Many years ago, I chose Peru School District as the place to raise my family for two main reasons: there was a great sense of community and a well-rated school system.

There have been many changes in the district recently. And while we should make changes as we learn better business practices, better teaching methods and better ways of doing things, they should be well-thought-out changes. Changes that help our district to grow, improve our schools and assure our children have a great education.

However, seeing many of the recent changes in the district has led me to believe these are not the kind of changes taking place.

I am running for School Board because I know Peru has what it takes to be a great school district again. The tools to make this happen stand in front of our classrooms every day, they send their children to school each day, and they attend classes. They are our teachers, our students and our community.

All of us need to work together to develop a plan to move Peru School District forward.

While I will be new to the School Board, I do have experience as a leader, an educator and as a Peru community member.

I know it will take time but with thoughtful, purposeful change, we will make this district better.

Please consider me for School Board when you vote on May 20.
