---- — Benefit tournament
TO THE EDITOR: I am writing on behalf of the CCFOA (local football officials) to thank all who sponsored and participated in this year’s golf tournament.
This tournament is held each year to raise money for scholarships awarded to college-bound area high-school football players.
This year’s tournament was once again a great success, and golfers avoided weather issues that seem to have become synonymous with the tournament. This is the third straight year that golfers have not been poured upon.
The staff at Westport Country Club, as always, did an excellent job with preparation of the golf course and the post-tournament meal. Owner John Hall also graciously donated some of the tournament prizes.
This year’s sponsors included major sponsor Keeseville/Cornerstone Pharmacies, Creative Candles, Peabody’s, Champlain Valley Dairy Equipment, Hamilton Funeral Home, Casella Waste, Forrence Orchards, Peru Pharmacy, Liberty’s Garage, Pizza Palace, Plattsburgh Distributing, Esposito & Sons Trucking, College Formals, Boquet Liquors, Celotti’s Wine & Spirits, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 125, Swain’s Wine & Spirits, Liquor & Wine Warehouse, Westport Hotel, The Essex Inn, Pasquale’s Pizzeria, Bearly Used Sports, The Hungry Bear, The Store Tavern, Warren Tire, The Rusty Anchor Restaurant, Smithfield Liquors and Arnold’s Liquor Locker.
Many tournament sponsors and participants have been loyal to this outing each year it has been held. The CCFOA very much appreciates those people, and especially businesses, who have continued to support us despite sometimes difficult economic circumstances.
We hope to see you this fall, supporting the area’s young athletes, as well as next spring, helping us assist a few of those student-athletes with their college expenses.
For anyone interested in participating in future CCFOA tournaments, the event occurs sometime between the third Sunday in May and the first Sunday in June.
