AuSable Forks alumni
TO THE EDITOR: The AuSable Forks High School Alumni Banquet will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the American Legion in AuSable Forks.
“Dutch Treat” cocktails begin at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Dinner will be a hot buffet with a choice of roast beef or turkey, plus salad, vegetable, potato, rolls, beverages, and dessert for $23 per person.
The banquet is open to all who ever attended ASFHS. Invitations have been mailed to all for whom the committee has valid addresses.
Anyone who has not received a letter, and would like to attend, should contact Pat Douglas, P.O. Box 999, AuSable Forks, NY, 12912, 647-8106 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reservations will be accepted until July 19.
If you are unable to attend but would like to donate to either the Leola Taylor Peacock or Deceased Alumni scholarship funds, contributions in any amount, payable to the “ASFHS Alumni Fund,” will be welcomed.
These funds support a scholarship and the College Assistance Program for AVCS graduates. CAP helps students earn college credits while completing high school.
Additional scholarship/CAP funds are raised through raffle tickets. Prizes are donated by local businesses and individuals. Businesses in AuSable Forks, Jay, Keeseville, Wilmington and points in between, as well as individuals, provided prizes last year.
It is important that we support our local businesses. They do so much to make our fundraisers successful, and it saves time and gas to shop local.

Tactics of deceit
TO THE EDITOR: What do we know about Elise Stefanik so far?
We know she went back to her family business to “help it grow.” She was there only a few months before starting her campaign, so that just seems disingenuous.
We know that she once worked for George Bush and knew well the workings of Karl Rove, who worked there too.
