Thanks for honor

TO THE EDITOR: Thank you to the Plattsburgh area community members who took the time and effort to write to me for Mail Call, which was the last gesture at the end of the Honor Flight tour to Washington.

I do not have contact information nor do I know most of the people personally, but I was touched by their sincerity and the sentiments in their letters.

I was especially pleased to have received so many student letters from Plattsburgh High School, Saranac High School, Seton, Beekmantown and Momot Elementary, and I am gratified to know that the teachers who supervised this activity are teaching history in a very tangible way by connecting the students to this initiative.

I am especially indebted to Sheriff Richard Cutting, who was my companion for the day.

I am sure there are many, many people involved in making these journeys meaningful and memorable. I wish to thank them all. I had a wonderful and inspiring day. Thank you for honoring me.

Stefanik qualified

TO THE EDITOR: Choosing a qualified candidate who understands the issues, is honest and is able to work with and communicate effectively with those from opposing parties while still maintaining the integrity of their core principles is of prime importance to me.

I believe that person is Elise Stefanik.

Elise is a bright, charismatic, articulate, knowledgeable millennial who is conversant on the national issues as well as the issues facing the 21st Congressional District.

She has experience in the private business sector and in Washington, D.C.

I first met Elise in November when she introduced herself to about 25 voters. Although her depth of knowledge of the issues facing our country was quite evident, what really impressed me was she never once tried to spin an answer or evade a question.
