TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to the wonderful members and sponsors of the Champlain Valley Morgan Horse Association, our Memorial Day weekend was far from a washout.
We enjoyed a horse show with good people, having good times in a warm, friendly, professional atmosphere. The show judges were top quality, and there were helpful members of the Fair Board on hand to support the show.
We were blessed to have our 2-year-old granddaughter in her first horse show class. Our 4-year-old grandson returned for his third year showing at this spectacular family horse event.
Thank you, everyone involved, for memories that will last a lifetime, rain or shine.
TO THE EDITOR: I wanted to write this on behalf of the Community Action Group that planned First Weekends.
As a group, we understand that without the support of the musicians who donated their time to play during the First Weekend in June, the event would not have been possible.
On any given night, you could go to a regional establishment to listen to the same musicians we had volunteer at First Weekends.
They did so out of their love for our community. We truly appreciate that they were willing to donate their time in an attempt to start something new for our community.
Next time you see any of these volunteers out, please thank them for being the real driving force behind First Weekends. Without them, the event would not have been as successful as it was.
Friday musicians: Ben Bright played at ROTA, Giovanina Bucci played at Cheechako Taco and Sam Balzac played at the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts.
Saturday musicians: Jay Lesage played at The Champlain Wine Company; Andrew Deller, Lowell Wurster and Kevin Sabourin played on City Hall Place near the Macdonough Monument; Punk-A-Hontas played on the steps of the monument; Dirty Diapers played on the corner of City Hall Place and Court Street; Ralph Senecal played in various locations with the other musicians.
Saturday attractions: Great Adirondack Ghost and Tour Company, across from City Hall; and the Transportation Museum, City Hall Place in front of the parking lot.
We are currently working to make the First Weekend in July bigger and better. Other than a few scheduling conflicts, we anticipate most of our volunteers to be back with us for July.
We are still looking for additional museums and musicians. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to contact me at 420-2224.
