O’Connell grateful

TO THE EDITOR: I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support I had during my campaign for councilor of Ward 4 in the City of Plattsburgh.

First and foremost, to my wife and family for their patience and understanding when it came to the many hours I spent away from home as I went door to door throughout the ward.

The many letters to the editor, kind words from friends on Facebook and the well wishes from many people on the street were very inspiring to me.

This was a first-time endeavor for me, and without the help of the Board of Election workers and fellow candidates, I would have never been successful.

Most of all thanks to the voters of Ward 4 for their vote of confidence in me. Throughout my campaign, I emphasized being the best representative I can be for the citizens of Ward 4 and the City of Plattsburgh.

That time has come, and for the next three years, feel free to stop by the house or give me a call with any concerns you may have, no matter what they are.

Once again, thanks for your support, and I promise I won’t let you down.

Cancer benefit

TO THE EDITOR: On behalf of the FitzPatrick Cancer Center Treasure Chests (breast-cancer survivors) and the CVPH Foundation, I would like to acknowledge Shirley and Norman Monette for organizing the annual Moriah Town Car Show during October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event raised $3,000 for the Cancer Center.

More than 82 classic cars from the northeastern region of New York and Vermont participated and received trophies.

The day included a barbecue hosted by the Port Henry Knights of Columbus, a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, music provided by DJ Jerry Seymour and more.
