Local candidates seek election Tuesday

PLATTSBURGH — Tuesday is decision day, with local people heading to the polls to make their choices for president, Congress, Assembly and a smattering of town and villages races.

In the Village of Malone, residents will vote on whether they want to dissolve the village government.

Here’s the list of candidates for town and village races around the North Country:



Town Council (one seat, one-year unexpired term): Dennis Roberts. 

He was appointed to the post following the death earlier this year of John Paul Tetreault.


Town Council (one seat, one-year unexpired term): Deryl L. Gregory (D), Robert J. Poitras (R).

Town justice (one seat): Edward M. Landry (D), Kenneth N. LaFave (R).


Highway superintendent (one seat, one-year unexpired term): Mark A. Siskavich (D), Lloyd J. Clukey (R).

Town clerk/tax collector (one seat, one-year unexpired term): Deborah L. Coryer (D, R). Coryer was appointed to the post after Sherry Katz resigned earlier this year.


Town justice (two seats): Christopher W. Latremore (D, C, W, I); Carolyn M. Meseck-Pratt (D, C, W, I); Robert G. Dunlop (R).


Town justice (one seat): D. Russell Lawliss (R).


Town justice (one seat): Randall J. Cumm Sr. (R), David J. Jock (D). 



Town justice (one seat): David A. Bashaw (R).


Town Council (one one-year unexpired seat): Evelyn A. Hatch (D-E’town Citizens Party), and Michael J. McGinn (R-Taxpayers Party).


Tax collector (one one-year unexpired seat): Jessie McDonald (R), Mark E. Deyoe (Independence), Char Newman (Green Party-Peace Party) and Tina L. Fenton (Taxpayers Party). The winner will fill the vacancy created when June Taylor died in a traffic accident earlier this year.


Town justice (one seat): Richard J. Carpenter Sr. (R-People’s Party), Larry V. Wintle Jr. (Justice Party), and Brandy M. Patnode-Michener (Honesty Party).
