---- — PLATTSBURGH — The 2012 election season for positions in Clinton County towns is a light one, with only contested races.
Running for a seat on the Ellenburg Town Council are Deryl L. Gregory as a Democrat and Robert J. Poitras as a Republican. The race is to fill the seat vacated by the death of Curtis Decoste earlier this year. There is one year left on the term.
Also in Ellenburg, Democrat Edward M. Landry and Republican Kenneth N. LaFave are running for a four-year town-justice seat. The position came open when incumbent Jeff Matthews decided not to seek re-election.
Running for the post of highway superintendent in the Town of Dannemora are Mark A. Siskavich as a Democrat and Lloyd J. Clukey as a Republican. There is one year left on the term that was held by Peter Barber, who stepped down earlier this year.
Clukey was appointed to replace Barber.
Unopposed in the race for town clerk/tax collector in Dannemora is Deborah L. Coryer, on both the Democrat and Republican tickets. She was appointed to fill the position earlier this year after Sherry Katz resigned.
In the Town of Chazy, squaring off for two town-justice positions are Christopher W. Latremore and Carolyn M. Meseck-Pratt, both as Democrat, Conservative, Working Families and Independence Party candidates, and Robert G. Dunlop as a Republican. Meseck-Pratt and Dunlop are incumbents. The two candidates with the most votes will win the four-year terms.
Running unopposed in the Town of Champlain for a Town Council seat is Republican Dennis F. Roberts.
He was appointed to replace John Paul Tetreault, who died in February. There is one year left on the term.
In Beekmantown, running unopposed for a four-year town-justice seat is D. Russell Lawliss as a Republican. He is an incumbent.
In Schuyler Falls, Randall J. Cumm Sr. is running as a Republican and David J. Jock as a Democrat for the post of town justice. The winner will fill the position vacated by Richard Reome, who stepped down earlier this year.
It is for a four-year term.
