Hamm wins re-election

FRANKLIN — Incumbent Franklin Town Councilor Donald Hamm was re-elected Tuesday with 231 votes over challenger Mary Ellen Keith (I CARE party), who garnered 143.

Hamm earned 125 votes on the Democratic line and 106 as Republican candidate for the total 231 votes.

Dannemora winter parking ban in effect

DANNMORA — Residents of the Village of Dannemora are reminded that the overnight-parking ban went into effect on Nov. 1 and will continue through April 30, 2014. 

Any vehicle found parked on village streets between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. will receive a $50 parking ticket.

Beekmantown Central Board to meet Nov. 12

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Middle/High School library.

Agenda items include presentations on Improving Achievement for Students with Disabilities and Students with Poverty, the 2012-13 audit report, revised policies and the Student Transportation Efficiency Study. Find the complete agenda at www.bcsdk12.org. 

The meeting is open to the public.

AVCS Board meeting scheduled for Nov. 13

CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at the Middle School-High School auditorium in Clintonville. 

It is anticipated that the meeting will begin with presentations, followed by an executive session, with regular session immediately following.

The agenda will include special-education recommendations and personnel issues. The meeting is open to all.

Free lunch for veterans at Texas Roadhouse

PLATTSBURGH — Veterans and active U.S. military members are invited to dine for free at Texas Roadhouse from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

Every Texas Roadhouse location across the country, including the restaurant at 356 Cornelia St., participates in the free lunch event to honor those who serve their country.

Guests must show proof of service, such as a military or VA card or discharge papers. The offer does not include spouses or other family members.
