Moriah plans water shutoff as part of bridge work

MORIAH — The Town of Moriah Water Department will shut off the water on Friday, Sept. 27, and Saturday, Sept. 28, from midnight to 4 a.m. in Water District #1, from Moriah Center south to the top of Broad Street and including all of Water District #4, to move a water line for the Moriah Center Bridge replacement project.

If the water is shut off more than four hours a boil-water order will be put in place.

It is recommended that users shut off their boilers or hot-water heaters and close the main valve coming into the home to prevent the possibility of siphoning water from the boiler or hot-water heater, a press release from the town said.

“If you do not have a main valve or are not sure of its location, you can contact the Water Department at 942-3340 or the Town Clerk office at 546-3341.”

If the water is cloudy once it is turned on again, users are asked to run their outside hose until it clears.

For more information, contact the Center for Student Involvement at 564-4380.
