BOP Commemoration buttons on sale

PLATTSBURGH — Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration buttons are now on sale around the North Country.

Each year, area fourth-graders are invited to participate in the poster contest to determine the image on the button. This year’s winning image by Skylar Staley from Morrisonville Elementary School featured a militiaman with a musket and a flag in the background. Second place went to Daren Purisic from Rouses Point Elementary School, and third place went to Marlie Sample from Mooers Elementary.

Battle of Plattsburgh activities run from Friday, Sept. 6, to Sunday, Sept. 15. The cost is $10 for adults, with children under 18 years old admitted to events and activities for free. Included in admission are nine concerts, reenactments, lectures, self-guided tours, a military parade, fireworks and more over 10 days. The Children’s Old Time Village Fair is on Sunday, Sept. 15.

Buttons are available at the Corner-Stone Bookshop, Battle of Plattsburgh Museum, Aubuchon Hardware at Skyway Plaza, Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce, Key Bank, North Country Co-Op, Kent-Delord House, the Plattsburgh Farmers Market (Aug. 31 and Sept. 7) and Studley Printing and Publishing in Plattsburgh; and Rulfs Orchard in Peru.
