---- — AVCS Board to meet tonight

CLINTONVILLE — The AuSable Valley Central School Board will meet at 6 tonight in the Middle/High School auditorium. 

The board is slated to begin with presentations, followed by an executive session.

Agenda items include special-education recommendations, approval of the tax warrant, acceptance of a donation and personnel issues.

The meeting is open to the public.

Beekmantown Central Board to sign super contract

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 4:30 tonight in the superintendent’s office to approve the superintendent’s contract.

Meetings are open to the public.

Plattsburgh City School Board to meet Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh City School Board will meet on Thursday at the Duken Building.

If an executive session is needed, it will be held at 6 p.m., with public session starting at 7 p.m.

The board will recognize last year’s retirees, approve probationary and miscellaneous appointments and act on other business items.

The public may attend.

NCCS schedules board meetings

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton Central School Board has scheduled a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in the Middle/Senior High library.

Items on the agenda include appointments and other necessary business for the beginning of the new school year.

Also, a regular board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, also in the library. 

The public may attend.

Town of Champlain to set hearing on zoning changes

CHAMPLAIN — A draft of the Town of Champlain Amended Zoning Law and Zoning Map is complete, and at its Sept. 10 session, the Champlain Town Council will set the date for a public hearing.

A temporary Zoning Amendment Advisory Committee was appointed by the council in July 2012 to oversee the creation of the document and did so over the course of 11 meetings, a press release said.

“The draft has been reviewed and found acceptable by the Town Planning Board, the Town Zoning Board of Appeals and the Clinton County Planning Board,” the release said.

Rotary Bed Race seeks sponsors

PLATTSBURGH — The Rotary Club of Plattsburgh seeks sponsors for its annual Bed Race, set for about 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, as part of the 2013 Battle of Plattsburgh Commemorative Weekend. 

The race brings in thousands of dollars that Rotary shares with local community organizations each year.

A limited number of sponsorships are available at the “Twin” level of $300. At that level, the company name and/or logo will be displayed on all promotional and media materials leading up to and on race day, along with a team entry fee for one bed (racers can be provided upon request). 

The event’s “King” sponsor is Wendell’s Furniture, and “Queen” sponsors are IBEW/NECA, The Development Corp., UFirst Federal Credit Union and Champlain National Bank.

The contest takes place on City Hall Place after the Battle of Plattsburgh parade and the Rotary Club’s Annual Roducky Derby.
