Seminars set for grant funding
PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Cultural Center for the Arts is now administering the Decentralization Grant, which is sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts, for Essex, Clinton and Franklin counties.
Applicants who have never received a Decentralization Grant, also known as a DEC/DCA grant, and/or first-year applicants are required to attend one of the upcoming seminars in order to apply for the 2013 grant. Other applicants should call or email to become aware of the recent changes.
Preregistration is required at least 24 hours prior to the start of the seminar by emailing email@example.com or calling 563-1604.
Seminars will be held at the following locations: Thursday, Sept. 6, Hand House, Elizabethtown: 4 p.m. Community Arts, 5:15 p.m. Arts Education and Individual Artist. Saturday, Sept. 8, Pendragon Theatre, Saranac Lake: 11 a.m. Community Arts, 12:15 p.m. Arts Education and Individual Artist, 1:45 to 3:30 p.m. consult time by appointment or drop-in. Tuesday, Sept. 11, Schroon Lake Town Hall: 6 p.m. Community Arts, 7:15 p.m. Arts Education and Individual Artist. Thursday, Sept. 13, For Art’s Sake, Malone: 5 p.m. Community Arts, 6:15 p.m. Arts Education and Individual Artist. Saturday, Sept. 15, NCCCA, Plattsburgh: 11 a.m. Community Arts, 12:15 p.m. Arts Education and Individual Artist; 2 to 4 p.m. consult time by appointment or drop-in.

The grant application deadline is 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 at the NCCCA.

Adirondack Coast photo contest in final month
PLATTSBURGH — The Adirondack Coast Visitors Bureau, a division of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, launched its first-ever Facebook photo contest, entitled “Then & Now,” in June.
The photo contest will end on Sept. 3.
