Olympic Museum offering special admission deal

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Olympic Museum, located in the Olympic Center, will be offering visitors buy one, get one free admission from Monday, June 10, through Sunday, June 16.

The museum will also offer a 10 percent discount on selected museum store merchandise as part of New York state Museum Week.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and juniors (12 and under), and free for children age 6 and under. Admission to the museum is also included in the purchase of the Olympic Sites Passport and Gold Pass.

Sinfonietta Guild annual meetingset for today

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Sinfonietta Guild will hold its annual organizational meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, June 10, at Camp Tamaracks, the home of Karen Holmes.

Guild members assist the orchestra in a variety of ways, including ushering at concerts, selling raffle tickets, preparing printed materials, providing post-concert receptions, offering housing to guest artists and more.

The Lake Placid Sinfonietta relies on the group of volunteers to carry out the performance season, and always welcomes new members. Bluegrass, Old Time Music group to meet

TICONDEROGA — The Champlain Valley Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at the Ticonderoga American Legion, 104 Montcalm St.

Everyone is invited. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish for the buffet.

Local group to sponsorscreening of film

TUPPER LAKE — The Wild Center has recently received a $20,000 gift from AdkAction.org to locally sponsor the Tupper Lake-based museum’s screening of “Flight of the Butterflies,” a new giant-screen adventure from SK Films, in its Flammer Theater.

Debuting during BuzzzFest on Saturday, July 6, the film will be shown at the Wild Center through June 2014.
