Veterans warned about

group seeking information

PLATTSBURGH — An organization called Veterans Affairs Services is providing benefit and general information on the Veterans Administration and gathering personal information on veterans.

This organization is not affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs in any way, according to Steven W. Bowman, director of the Clinton County Veterans Service Agency.

Bowman warns that the group may be gaining personal information from veterans and military personnel that can be harmful to them later.

“Please do not provide any personal information, including banking information, over the phone. If the Department of Veterans Affairs, requests such information, it will be in writing,” he said in a news release.

Chateaugay School Board

plans discussions

CHATEAUGAY — The Chateaugay Central School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at the school.

Agenda items include discussion of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed budget, along with a foood-service report, building-use requests and personnel issues.

Board meetings are open to the public.

New Dannemora

Town Hall being discussed

DANNEMORA — The Dannemora Town Council will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the Town Hall for an ongoing discussion of construction in the new Town Hall.

The work session will be immediately followed by the regular Town Council meeting at 6 p.m.

Both meetings are open to the public.

Sweet Adelines available

for singing valentines

PLATTSBURGH — The Champlain Valley Sweet Adelines will be delivering singing valentines in Plattsburgh and the surrounding area on Thursday, Feb. 14.

The chorus members will go to homes, places of work, restaurants or anywhere to sing to a loved one or friend in four-part harmony.
