Scozzafava to give State of State overview today

MALONE — The public is invited to the Malone Town Office today to hear more details about Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Regional State of the State message.

Deputy Secretary of State Deirdre Scozzafava and State Department of Labor North Country regional representative June O’Neill will make a presentation at 11 a.m. at the Malone Dufort Airport.

They will provide an overview of Cuomo’s three years in office and his ideas for the “Building on Success” campaign.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration set

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at the Newman Center, 90 Broad St., Plattsburgh.

Sponsored by the Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, the event includes speakers and music.

The main speaker is Peter Slocum, a volunteer and board vice president for the North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association, where he works on programs and publicity. He is a retired former newspaperman and public-health advocate who lives in Keene.

The event is open to the public.
